There’s a couple of crusts out there. Heard from reliable source that rain crust exists up to at least 6400’ and possibly higher. I skied Powder Mountain in the afternoon and found crusts both on the surface and just below about an inch of new snow. I suspect this crust formed from rime or just from the warm temps and green housing. It wasn’t everywhere, but found it on most areas we skied - northerly slopes above about 7800’. The cold dry powder we had for most of the month appears to be gone for the moment. Other than rollerballs, I didn’t notice any avalanche activity on steep, rocky lower and mid elevation slopes on the lower powder mountain road.
Comments
The trees were beautifully rimed above about 8800'
