Avalanche Problem #1
Problem
Persistent Weak Layer
Trend
Same
Problem #1 Comments
The rocky terrain of the area has held on to the sugary facets from October and has unfortunately failed to heal.
Forecaster's Note: I think the weak sugary snow on mid elevation slopes is actually from December. The cold weather around Christmas really put a gradient across the shallow snowpack...
Avalanche Problem #2
Problem
Wet Snow
Problem #2 Comments
The ambient temp was upwards to 43 degrees today, making the snow globby. Few slopes in this area would slide, but warm snow, turning heavy, on sugary facets is not a good set up.
