Comments
My goal was to identify the layer that many other observers have found over the past few days throughout the Ogden mountains. Sure enough I was able to find this layer on various aspects and elevations. First pit I dug was at 6900' on a SE aspect and I found the layer about 18" down. Produced an ECTP 16 with Q3 shear. Next pit I dug was at 7600' just below the ridge line on a NE aspect. The layer was about 24" down and produced an ECTP 15 with Q2 shear. Pictures are from the second pit i dug and clearly shows the failure plane. The other pic shows the crust that seems to be the bed surface that the columns are failing on.
