Problem #1 Comments
yesterday observed significant cracking in wind drifted snow now covered up by light density new snow
Comments
On 11/24 high winds transported snow and created sensitive drifts. Ski cuts in both Days Fork (east facing) and the Hallway (west facing) produced avalanches. Drifts have now been covered by several inches of new snow making them more difficult to detect. Todays snow is light, moving fast and running long. Several long running sluffs on south facing superior caused by both ski cuts and cornices piled up more then enough snow to burry a person. Stark difference in visibility was observed on the east ridge beteen Little Cottonwood Canyon vs. clear skies over Big Cot. Minimal wind even at 11k feet.
