Generally the snowpack was 1m deep. We consistently found old, weak facets near the ground. We got several ECTP's with scores in the upper 20s. The fracture on all of them was very rough and uneven.
The weak layer was generally a mix of crusts and facets, but the crusts were very uneven and irregular. In general, compared to places in the cottonwoods, this layer was thinner, and uneven. It didn't seem nearly as bad. Looking at some of the depth hoar crystals - they remain weak, loose, and sugary, but some of their edges are starting to round the tiniest bit. Are they healed? No. It's just an indication that the healing process has begun.

We rode and dug snowpits mostly below 9400 feet. In that area the danger seemed mostly LOW. Photo: Al Richards
