Comments
While touring today, we identified a weak layer of near surface facets below Saturday's crust, now covered by approximately 25 cm of new snow. In a west facing slope at an elevation of 8500', we performed a couple snow pack tests. Our results included a CTH SP down 53 cm and PST 67/100 (End) down 43 cm. A second PST gave no result. Nevertheless, this layer could cause slab avalanches given the new snow and wind drifted snow, and the danger will only increase this week with the next round of snow storms.
