Comments
I got out early this morning for a quick hit. I chose south facing terrain which I knew had very little if any snow prior to our Thanksgiving weekend storm systems. I was surprised to find about 16 inches of new snow up high. I dug a few hand pits and mostly found new snow on dirt, however; once I got near some trees that blocked the western sun on the south slope I found a few inches of basal facets. The snow was slightly upside down or maybe just punchy and dense. I did not step foot on north facing terrain. I was out of the mountains early but it continued to snow all day. Near sunset I drove by past my sled tracks down low ~7800ft and noticed my tracks were covered with about 6-8 inches of new snow.
