Comments
Skiing is surprisingly good with several crusts (indicated by red arrows in first photo) making the snowpack supportable. Approximate pit location shown in second photo. Obvious faceting just starting in new snow that fell Saturday night/Sunday Morning. Small facets under the new snow and above the crusts. Big facets under the crusts. The snow usually gets weaker this time of year. Fortunately many other slopes on the southern half of the compass and at lower elevations are mostly snow free.
The biggest hazard remains hitting rocks. The one ingredient missing for an avalanche is the slab, and we had no avalanche concerns skiing steep terrain.
