Snow Characteristics
Snow Characteristics Comments
Just a general comment on the snow. Been out touring the past three days and saw the wet cream cheese, with easy pole penetration on Friday on most aspects. Though as the cool down began Friday night, it was less pronounced yesterday above 9K, though in bushes and tree areas still unconsolidated. Today the hard squall of snow then clearing yesterday evening improved the snow dramatically. At 10K, soft snow of four to five inches was on top of a solid base Out of the trees and around 9K in Days today, the upper pack was much more consolidated, though at 8K and in the trees you could still shove a pole a decent amount into the pack. Of note the snow didn't stuff or roller on NE aspects on steep slopes and stayed much more in place than yesterday. Seems like a small amount of surface faceting occurred last night, but shouldn't be a concern if the next load comes in moist and with some wind.
East facing terrain warmed by around noon today, but cold snow remained on northern aspects.
Comments
General comments regarding the below photo and a skin track I saw trying to go up the main gut of Banana Days. Seems like the party turned around, but not sure the thought process to skin underneath that terrain.
