Forecast for the Skyline Area Mountains

Tuesday morning, February 27, 2018
The avalanche danger remains CONSIDERABLE on steep slopes that face northwest, and especially north and east. This means human triggered avalanches are likely in this terrain again today. You will probably not experience or see many red flags of avalanche danger such as recent avalanche activity or collapsing or cracking. Buried weak snow is noted if you dig down to look for buried weak sugary faceted snow. You may also notice a "lack of base" where it is easy to "trench" your machine into this weak snow. These are clues to a dangerous snowpack.

Recent Avalanches
Another natural avalanche released early Monday morning on east facing Mt Nebo. This was triggered by a slight bump in wind which drifted snow onto the avalanche starting zone. DETAILS HERE
