Thin rime crust capping last week's powder, not too bad and deteriorating in the trees, a bit thicker in open terrain.

Problem #1 Comments

West wind was strong enough to drift snow around in upper Long Hollow. Stripping the thin crust off windward slopes and picking snow up in flat open terrain or fetches and depositing it in the form of stiff drifts in deposition areas.

Problem #2 Comments

This danger appears to be gradually diminishing in most places, but I don't ever trust buried facets.

Comments

I was easily able to trigger cornice falls and to crack out small, 1' deep wind slabs in stiff ridge top drifts.

Saturday night's rime-crust on open mid-elevation terrain shimmers in the defuse sunlight.
