Issued by Brett Kobernik for
Thursday, February 23, 2017

The overall avalanche danger is MODERATE today. The danger is more pronounced on high elevation east facing slopes where wind has been and will continue to deposit snow into fresh drifts and slabs. Human triggered avalanches are likely and natural avalanches are possible in the wind effected terrain. If you avoid wind loaded areas today, you will have no problems with avalanches.

Weather and Snow

The Manti Skyline picked up about 8 inches of snow in the last 24 hours. Temperatures dropped down to about 10˚F overnight. Wind speeds are moderate along the ridges from the west. I thought the riding conditions were quite nice yesterday and with another 8 inches of cold powder, they should be excellent today.
