Cornice

We observed that a massive cornice failure has occurred at the head of DB bowl in Dry Canyon. The failure seems recent, as the crack tore apart snowmobile tracks that had not been very wind scoured or deposited. The failure sent cornice fragments the size of mid sized cars downslope up to 150 meters. The fissure, located about 10 meters from the lee edge of the cornice, 150 plus meters long coincided with a set of snow mobile tracks. The fissure is 10 plus meters deep, and between 20 cm and 2 meters wide. See images and videos posted with this observation.
