Comments
We saw several avalanches from the past week. The slides were 6 to 12 inches deep and appeared to fail at a density inversion in last weeks storm snow. The rather surprising aspect of these avalanches was how long they run down slope. The largest of these slides was on Ham Hollow (South aspect, 8100 ft to 7500 ft, 32 to 35 degree slope) which slid approximately 600 vertical feet and was 50 to 125 feet wide (see photo). Bobcat and Wildcat Bowls (E aspect 8200 ft, 32 to 38 degree slope) also had several small sized avalanches (see photo). Throughout the remaining bowls in Wood Camp we could see from a distance that they had also avalanched.
