The storm on Monday did not produce as much snow during the day as I anticipated. We only picked up a couple of inches during the day. The wind was blowing from the west southwest with moderate to strong speeds. This did create some drifts up to a foot deep on all aspects above 9500'. We did not find them sensitive during our day checking conditions.
A few more inches of snow trickled in overnight but we definitely ended up with the low end of what I was expecting. 24 hour totals are around 4 inches. Wind is still pretty gusty in the higher terrain. Temperatures are in the upper teens to around 20.
I've been watching a weak layer that formed on the surface of snow last week. It did not seem very alarming yesterday when my partner and I checked it out. However, after watching and observing it over the last few days, it has me slightly concerned and I'll be keeping a close eye on it. I'm hoping it doesn't create problems for us as more snow adds up but I can't say for sure at this point. Stay tuned.
