Forecast for the Skyline Area Mountains

The overall avalanche danger is LOW. The danger may rise to MODERATE in the mid elevations depending on how much rain falls on the snowpack. Natural wet avalanches are possible if enough rain falls. Higher elevations should see light snow and won't be prone to wet avalanches.

Today is the last regularly scheduled avalanche forecast for the season.

Weather and Snow

A weak storm moving through has brought a little precipitation to our area. The rain snow line is between 8000 and 9000 feet and it looks like very little snow has accumulated. Ridgetop temperatures are in the low to mid 30s and wind speeds are fairly light from the west southwest.

Rain on snow can be a cause for concern but I don't think we've seen enough rain to make things real dangerous. It's unlikely anyone will be recreating on snow where it's raining but if you are, perhaps you might to want to stay on slopes less than 30 degrees or so.

Additional Information

A weak storm will move through today and we'll see periods of rain and snow. Ridgetop temperatures are going to be in the low to mid 40s and wind speeds will be light to moderate with occasional stronger gusts from the southwest. A series of small storms are going to roll through our area into the middle of the week but none look like big snow producers.
