Forecast for the Skyline Area Mountains

Friday morning, February 19, 2016
A MODERATE avalanche danger exists due to Thursday's few inches of new snow which may be drifted some. Wind later today may continue to drift snow. You will most likely find fresh drifts of snow which, on their own, probably won't pose too much threat. A bigger concern is the chance of finding one of these fresh drifts on a slope that has avalanched earlier this season and is filled back in. If you trigger one in this terrain it will most likely break near the ground and be a much more serious avalanche compared to just a new snow drift. Upper elevation north through east facing slopes approaching 40 degrees is the most dangerous terrain.
