The avalanche danger is CONSIDERABLE today. Human triggered avalanches are likely. Avoid steep slopes in the mid and upper elevation terrain. Also avoid being below steep slopes where an avalanche may come from above. Avalanches may be triggered from a distance. The avalanche danger will increase as the wind speeds increase later today.

Weather and Snow

A few more inches of snow fell in the high country on the last 24 hours. Snow totals since last Friday are up around 2.5 feet bringing the total depth up near 40 inches at many of the upper elevation weather stations.

Increasing wind later today and tonight will form slabs of snow over the weak snow from earlier in the season. This is a very dangerous situation.
