Weather Comments
Stellar weather. Much warmer up in the mountains so the sun was having a real warming effect on the E-S-W slopes. The South facing slopes were gloppy and wet by late morning.

Snow Characteristics Comments

If you stayed in the shade or as far N on the compass as possible, the snow surface had small surface hoar crystals that made the riding fast and smooth. The snow from the beginning of the week has settled quite a bit and, where exposed to the sun, has developed a nice breakable crust. The south slopes were sloppy but the shaded, sheltered areas were still cold and soft.

The wind left its mark on the snow surface and built up some strong wind slabs.

Comments

Did a quick ECT at 8500' NW slope. Got a 26P. Failed about 6 inches off the ground below a stout melt-freeze crust from the December high pressure. There are still facets on the ground but they are very warm and wet. The total depth was only 100cm.
