Decided to head up Mill D today to stay in mid elevation wind protected terrain, The high exposed alpine was getting hammered by E-SE winds. Noted large plumes off Lone Peak, all of E, NE facing Cardiff and upper elevation Days Fork, also noted wind swirling down lower in the drainages. Skied the gambit of aspects today, N, E, S SE, and SW. all slopes contained light density powder with the exception of high N off of Reynolds Peak, and SE facing off of Little Water Peak. No real red flags today except in the upper elevation alpine where the wind was transporting a lot of snow to the W, NW lee terrain. Photos, wind transport on Lone Peak, E, NE facing Cardiff, High elevation Days Fork, Oh yeah and a Happy New Years shot, its been a great couple weeks
In the terrain covered today thinking moderate, in wind loaded terrain considerable, the wind was definitely moving enough snow in the high alpine to load the lee slopes, and from what I've seen this year W- NW facing terrain is thin and has weak layers in the pack.
