Snow Characteristics Comments

New snow from Dec 17/18 was 2"-4" heading up Mill D. Upper Reynolds held 4" of new snow mixed with near surface facets and small surface hoar flakes. The new snow sat on a thin melt-freeze (?) crust atop a consolidated ~14" slab. There was great flotation and the crust was not noticeable while skiing. Dreamy ski conditions! I had a constant grin on my face and I didn't want to come home! Probably my best day this season.

I dug a quick pit at 9300ft, NW aspect, 30 degree slope. Stability tests were boring... CTN. ECTX. Total snow depth- 25". About 6" of moist facets on the ground.
