An optimistic 5 cms (2") fell during the early afternoon. New snow was well bonded to old snow surfaces on all but upper elevation due north where sluffs were easy to instigate.

Comments

Afternoon tour through Silver & Days Forks (East Bowl, Flanigans, Hideaway, Jaws) and back to Alta. One of those outings where snow conditions were MUCH better than expected. Still finding soft, dry snow on North and Northwest aspects providing excellent ski and travel conditions. Hard to identify any weak layers in the top 50 cms of the snowpack, and apart from some boot-top sluffs in the top 5-10 cms of snow on steep northerly aspects on Flanigans, very stable spring snow conditions. No wind loading and clouds and cool temps prevented any wet activity.

Overall was surprised to still find soft settled snow, and given cloud cover, cool temps, and continued snow showers overnight and on Sunday, Low avalanche hazard should persist providing good ski and travel conditions.
