Snow Characteristics Comments

4 inches of super light density snow, not keeping you from bottom feeding on, sun crust on east and south facing, wind crust in exposed terrain and a plethora of old tracks. Did improve the sheltered faceted terrain.

Comments

Today reminded me of one of Drews favorite terms, lipstick on a pig, 4 inches of light density snow did not do a whole lot to improve the skiing except in terrain that was faceted before the storm, sheltered north facing. New snow seemed to bond fairly well except in quite steep terrain. sluffing was noted on the rock slabs in Ivory Flakes, and also off some steep chutes on the Reed and Benson ridge line. No cracking or collapsing noted, but did not get into wind effected terrain. Photos, cloud deck, Sluff debris off the Reed and Benson ridge line, and the chute it came out of.
