We did a quick walk just for some exercise this afternoon starting at about 1:30 PM. Despite quite warm temperatures the underlying snowpack remained quite stout and frozen up fairly solid. The new snow was damp soggy and mushy, however after the last few days of gradual warming, today's warm temperatures were not enough to make the new snow reactive. Only the highest due North steep aspects hold some cold snow. We did note some new rollerball activity on upper elevation northwest aspects but no avalanche activity there. It seems like the gradual warm-up was just what we needed so this new snow wouldn't completely come unglued. Danger remained Moderate at best although it seemed like things could've become more dangerous fairly easily.
