Special Announcements

Happy St. Patrick's Day. The Utah Avalanche Center - Moab, due to other duties as assigned and limited funding left will be updating this forecast on the weekend of March 23rd.

Spring time conditions are starting to arrive in the La Sal and Abajo Mountains, which means that backcountry travelers should start early and end early and work the slopes and aspects according to the amount of solar gain. Just as important is making sure there is an adequate overnight freeze, or the chance of wet slab avalanches will increase without freezing temperatures at night.

Please look at Moab's Mountain Weather Page HERE to assist you with forecasts, temperatures, snow depths and winds across southeast Utah.

Just because funding is running out for the Utah Avalanche Center-Moab does not mean snow conditions and coverage are poor, in fact this is the best spring skiing conditions we've had in a couple of years! Prime Time for those heading to Moab for other pursuits, bring the gear necessary to ski or ride in a spectacular desert range.
