Weather and Snow

The mountains of southeast Utah received 10"-12" out of the winter storm that pulled out of the area early Sunday morning. Both the Camp Jackson and Geyser Pass Winter TH have 40" of snow on the ground, while Gold Basin has over 60" of snow on the ground. Powder conditions are on tap for Sunday, yet as the work week gets underway, the sun and warmer temperatures will affect the snow conditions, and powder will retreat higher in elevation and farther into the glades.

San Juan County will be plowing the roads either Monday and Tuesday. 4WD is recommended to get into the mountains. Grooming efforts from LUNA volunteers will become more sporadic as spring arrives. There is no grooming scheduled for this week yet.

Please NOWCAST by using our Mountain Weather Page if you are heading out. Also, remember that it is not spring, YET.

This forecast will be updated by Thursday morning, March 14th.
