Snow Characteristics Comments
The snowpack in upper Dry was deeper (48 inches on average) and more like old powder compared to the thin sugar we found in Providence to the south yesterday, but not as deep or dense as that found around Tony Grove to the north at this time, seems like a gradient and we were somewhere in the middle. Upper canyon had a deeper and less faceted pack. Westerly aspects like Goalpost and upper Exit were somewhat wind stiffened, better turns in the more protected portions of the Gully and Oscar-Meyer. Dry was skin-able up, but the exit cost some P-tex.
Red Flags
Red Flags Comments
Some minor cracking in the top six inches in places. Despite heavy wind loading on the ridges the fresh deposits did not appear sensitive to the weight of a skier. Shallow snowpack in lower canyon.
Comments

Plenty of wind and some transport on the lee side of ridges.

Minor cracking in tip six inchesin some locations.

Folly looks more brushy up close than from town.

Protected locations skied best.
