The La Sal and Abajo Mountains received the first storm of the season during the weekend of November 9th. 5" of snow fell at the Geyser Pass Winter Trailhead. Cross country skiing is an option in the La Sals yet the road above the trailhead is still open until the beginning of December.

The Utah Avalanche Center-Moab will open its doors officially on December 3rd. Please check back on Saturday, December 8th for the first advisory of the season.

Until then, put fresh batteries in your beacons, check your 1st aid and repair kits and continue cross training for what hopefully will be a safe, fulfilling winter season.
