Forecast for the Skyline Area Mountains

The majority of the terrain along the Skyline has a LOW to MODERATE avalanche danger. Human triggered avalanches that break to the ground are still possible in the upper elevation northwest and especially north and east facing steep slopes where a CONSIDERABLE danger still exists.

Anticipate the danger to increase through the weekend with more snow in the forecast.

Recent Avalanches

I received a report of a close call with a snowmobile triggered avalanche over the weekend. It turns out it was an avalanche that I randomly stumbled onto during field work on Friday. There are not many details on what happened but it does confirm my suspicions that it was a sled triggered slide. Here's the link: https://utahavalanchecenter.org/avalanches/38108

Wednesday: Snow showers likely, mainly after noon. Some thunder is also possible. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 39. Breezy, with a south wind 24 to 29 mph decreasing to 17 to 22 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 43 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
Wednesday Night: Snow showers likely, mainly before midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 21. Breezy, with a west southwest wind 16 to 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.
Thursday: A chance of snow showers before noon, then snow likely after noon. Cloudy, with a high near 31. Southwest wind 11 to 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.
Thursday Night: Snow showers likely, mainly before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 14. West southwest wind 13 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
Friday: A 30 percent chance of snow showers after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 30. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
Friday Night: A 20 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 18.
Saturday: A chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 28.
