One 1hr evening Zoom session at 7:00pm followed by one all-day field session around Alta or Brighton. Course meets in the morning ~8am and will finish up around 3pm. Rates: $175
In this single field day basic backcountry skiing instructional clinic we teach you the basics to get you started moving about the mountains. This all while getting some backcountry turns in of course!
All Backcountry Pros instructors work as professional ski guides and consequently we focus heavily on 'real world application.'
Topics Include:
-How to use skins and alpine touring equipment/split-board to go up and down the mountain efficiently
-Introduction to avalanche safety equipment
-How to interpret an avalanche forecast
-How to recognize avalanche terrain
-Planning a basic trip
-Choosing appropriate equipment
Prerequisite:
Advanced downhill ski or snowboarding ability
Moderate to good fitness
-How to deal with an emergency
-Constructing an emergency shelter
This course has a one hour Zoom session the evening prior (7pm) to the posted field date.
