special announcement

Welcome back... we've missed you!

While we're waiting for winter to begin in earnest we're busy getting our winter programs underway... installing weather stations, scheduling avalanche awareness classes, and going full steam ahead planning the big Utah Snow and Avalanche Workshop on November 2nd. If you are looking for a day of continuing education, head to the Southtowne Expo center on November 2nd. Click HERE for information.

You can also check out our Events section for upcoming events in the mean time.

current conditions

Our main man Ted Scroggin has been out and about. Click here for his most excellent observation.

For the time-being the highway is still open. It's easy to bag a roadside attraction, but don't let the easy access lure you into a false sense of security.

This was a good storm for the western Uinta's and most regions from Mirror Lake Highway through the North Slope stacked up nearly a foot of new snow. The south end of the range received about half that amount.

Nearly all the weather stations in our network are up and running. Click here for current winds, temperatures, and snowfall throughout the range.

recent activity

There's a slab, a weak layer, and a bed surface. Yup... we've got all the ingredients for an avalanche.

While not super connected, there's now enough snow on the high elevation, shady slopes to trigger an avalanche.
