Avalanche Advisory
Advisory: Skyline Area Mountains Issued by Brett Kobernik for Sunday - April 2, 2017 - 6:54am
bottom line

The avalanche danger is generally LOW today.

current conditions

Riding conditions on Saturday were quite nice especially in the morning before the daytime heating made the snow wet. Typical for this time of the season, afternoon, most slopes had become wet. Even the higher due north slopes had some rollerballing in the damp snow.

Rollerballs on a north facing slope above 10,000'

Skies were clear overnight and low temperatures were in the upper 20s. West wind is generally light.

description

The snowpack will be locked up solid this morning due to clear skies overnight and below freezing temperatures. As the day goes on, the snow will become damp. A minor weather disturbance will move through this afternoon bringing clouds and cooler temperatures. This will halt the snow from becoming too wet and I would expect the snow stability to remain fairly stable all day.

weather

Skies start out clear this morning but it looks like things will cloud up afternoon as a minor weather system moves through. There's a chance for a snow shower or two with no significant accumulation expected. Ridgetop temperatures will reach into the mid to upper 30s. West wind will be light to moderate in speed. Temperatures cool off more on Monday as a larger storm system dives to our south. This will probably produce some snow showers later Monday which might add up to a few inches.
