Avalanche Advisory
Advisory: Skyline Area Mountains Issued by Brett Kobernik for Friday - February 19, 2016 - 6:58am
bottom line

A MODERATE avalanche danger exists due to Thursday's few inches of new snow which may be drifted some. Wind later today may continue to drift snow. You will most likely find fresh drifts of snow which, on their own, probably won't pose too much threat. A bigger concern is the chance of finding one of these fresh drifts on a slope that has avalanched earlier this season and is filled back in. If you trigger one in this terrain it will most likely break near the ground and be a much more serious avalanche compared to just a new snow drift. Upper elevation north through east facing slopes approaching 40 degrees is the most dangerous terrain.

current conditions

Southwest wind blew strong prior to the cold frontal passage mid day on Thursday. Gusts to 70 were recorded at the top of Fairview Canyon. Wind slowed dramatically with the frontal passage and a quick short lived burst of snowfall in the afternoon added a few inches of new snow.
