Salt Lake Avalanche Advisory

Forecaster: Brett Kobernik

CURRENT CONDITIONS

Last weeks storm produced 6 to 10 inches of snow in the Cottonwoods. That snow has melted off many south facing slopes. It's crusted on east and west aspects as well as all aspects at lower elevations. It has settled quite a bit on the northerly aspects as well. Snow cover is thin with rocks poking through everywhere. Avalanche conditions are fairly benign with a mostly stable snow structure right now. There are some layers that could possibly cause problems down the road. Click on Current Conditions in the above menu to view some recent snow profiles and observations.

MOUNTAIN WEATHER

A ridge of high pressure will move in and create mild weather through the week. Currently the weather models suggest a storm possibly shaping up for Sunday. We won't do any updates to this advisory until weather conditions dictate. In the mean time, click here for some early season thoughts on avalanches.
