Snow totals of up to a foot with around an inch of water over the past 6 hours, combined with strong SW winds, have caused the danger to rise to CONSIDERABLE. Human triggered avalanches are probable, and natural activity is possible.

This advisory is being updated due to an unforeseen amount of snow falling in past six hours. A forecasted 2-4" today has turned into 11" of snow and around an inch of water since about 6:00 am this morning. Winds on Pre-Laurel Peak have been averaging 20-15 mph from the southwest with gusts in the 50 mph range. Storm snow will be sensitive to skiers and riders, and natural activity will be possible in areas of steep terrain, primarily on upper elevation slopes with a northerly aspect.

Snow showers. Some thunder is also possible. High near 28. Windy, with a south wind 25 to 30 mph decreasing to 20 to 25 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 55 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Tonight

Snow showers. Low around 11. Breezy, with a southwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Wednesday

Snow showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 30. West southwest wind 10 to 15 mph becoming north northwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Wednesday Night

A 50 percent chance of snow showers before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 14. North wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Thursday

A 20 percent chance of snow showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 32. North wind 10 to 15 mph.

Thursday Night

A 10 percent chance of snow showers before midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 16.

Friday

Sunny, with a high near 35.

Road Conditions: The road has mostly melted off down to the dirt and it's getting muddy in the afternoon. 

Grooming: Grooming is wrapping up for the season but the lower meadow and the road into Gold Basin were packed out on Saturday.
