Avalanche Advisory
Advisory: Moab Area Mountains Issued by Eric Trenbeath for Monday - December 8, 2014 - 7:23am
special announcement

The Utah Avalanche Center is up and running for the season. Generally low snow conditions prevail and I will update this advisory as conditions warrant.

current conditions

Mountain weather conditions at 11,700' on Pre-Laurel Peak.

Snow totals at Geyser Pass Trailhead.

Generally low snow conditions prevail with about 10" on the ground at the Geyser Pass Trailhead, and 20" in Gold Basin. Many wind and sun exposed slopes are scoured or melted off down to the rocks. There is enough snow cover on the Geyser Pass Road for cross country skiing and snowmobiling but the bottom line is we need more snow! On the distant horizon, it looks like we may see a change in the weather pattern by the weekend.
