Avalanche Advisory
Advisory: Moab Area Mountains Issued by Bruce Tremper for Sunday - November 24, 2013 - 7:44am
special avalanche bulletin

Southern Utah has experienced a major winter storm.  The La Sal Mountain automated weather station shows 10 inches of snow from the storm with 1.2 inches of water weight.  The Camp Jackson automated weather station in the Abajo Mountains shows 20 inches of new snow from the storm with 2.5 inches of water weight.

We have not started the full avalanche advisories for the La Sal and Abajo mountains yet.  After Max Forgensi moved on to greener pastures this summer, we scrambled to replace him.  We are happy to announce that after a 10-year hiatus, Eric Trenbeath will return as the avalanche forecaster for the Moab area.  He will start issuing regular avalanche advisories on December 2nd.

In the mean time, anyone getting out into the mountains can fill out the Observation Form on our home page at UtahAvalancheCenter.org and we will post those observations for everyone to read by clicking on Detailed Information and then on All the Good Stuff.

You can also monitor nearby advisories such as the one for the Manti Skyline, which we issue each Friday.
