SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

The La Sal Avalanche Center has closed it's doors for the 2009-2010 Avalanche Season. Avalanche Hazards will remain until the snow melts however, so please make conservative decisions when traveling in the backcountry of the La Sal or Abajo Mountains. We are finishing the season with 140 - 180% of our normal snowpack on the ground as of April 4th, and winter has shown no sign of backing off at higher elevations yet. Spring skiing promises to be excellent in SE Utah this year. New snow slides and wet slides with warming temperatures will still be possible into the summer months. Please be aware of this possibility. Localized avalanche analysis MUST be carried out if you are planning on traveling on slopes steeper than 30 degrees.
