Forecaster: Toby Weed

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

The Friends of the Utah Avalanche Center in Logan presents the 5th annual Pray For Snow benefit and party at 6:30 on Friday November 21st at the Bullen Center in downtown Logan.

BOTTOM LINE

Danger by aspect and elevation on slopes approaching 35° or steeper.
(click HERE for tomorrow's danger rating)

Danger Rose Tutorial

There is a LOW danger and avalanches are unlikely on most slopes.  Isolated wet avalanches are possible on steep sunny slopes with saturated snow.

CURRENT CONDITIONS

The rain crust from last week crust deteriorated under warm conditions, and we found unsupportable moist snow on south facing slopes below around 9000'.  It's still quite supportable, and slick, on north facing slopes.

THREAT #1

WHERE PROBABILITY SIZE TREND
      Over the next 24 hours.

When the surface crust softens during the heat of midday, you might trigger wet avalanches on steep slopes with saturated snow.

MOUNTAIN WEATHER

A vigorous but mostly dry short wave will bring cloudiness and cooler temperatures to the mountains on Thursday evening.  A significant change in the Indian summer weather looks likely to hold off until at least the middle of next week.
