Logan Avalanche Advisory

Forecaster: Toby Weed

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for all the mountains of Northern Utah.

A foot or more of snow will fall at high elevations in the Logan Area Mountains by Wednesday Morning....

CURRENT CONDITIONS

Heavy snowfall is occurring in the mountains this morning, and it will continue to dump through today.

High southwest winds have been buffeting the CSI weather station on Logan Peak with overnight hourly averages near 30 mph and gusts close to 50....

It's a good idea to get your avalanche rescue gear out.  Be sure your shovel and probe are in good operating condition and put new batteries in your beacon.  Get your partners to practice with these things often in the early season.  Before long you might be very glad they did

This information does not apply to developed ski areas or highways where avalanche control is normally done.  This advisory is from the U.S.D.A. Forest Service, which is solely responsible for its content. This advisory describes general avalanche conditions and local variations always occur.
