Advisory: Abajo Area Mountains Issued by Eric Trenbeath for Tuesday - January 10, 2017 - 7:26am
bottom line

The avalanche danger is MODERATE today on steep, upper elevation slopes that have a NW-E-SE aspect. Suspect the lee sides of ridge crests and terrain features such as sub ridges and gully walls. Avoid steep slopes with recent deposits of wind drifted snow. Out of the wind zone at mid and lower elevations the danger is mostly LOW.

3" of new snow has fallen at Camp Jackson. Conditions are still relatively thin, but we are inching forward. Dustin Randall was out on Friday and said that the grass is getting covered up! For a report from his travels go here.

A 40 percent chance of snow. Widespread blowing snow, mainly after 7pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 24. Windy, with a southwest wind around 30 mph, with gusts as high as 50 mph.

Wednesday

A 40 percent chance of snow. Widespread blowing snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 29. Windy, with a west southwest wind 30 to 35 mph.

Wednesday Night

A 50 percent chance of snow. Widespread blowing snow, mainly before 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 21. Windy, with a west wind 20 to 30 mph. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Thursday

Snow. The snow could be heavy at times. Patchy blowing snow. High near 27. Breezy, with a south southwest wind 20 to 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
