Avoidance is the best way to not get caught in an avalanche, but accidents happen. You have only minutes and performing an effective rescue is hard. You need to be prepared.
With a low student-to-instructor ratio, you’ll practice real-life scenarios and receive personalized feedback.
Course Goals:
Understand the steps and procedures of an avalanche rescue.
Understand how to use an avalanche transceiver, probe, and shovel properly.
Perform a full avalanche burial rescue in less than 10 minutes.
Understand how to continue practicing rescue skills individually and with partners.
This course is for skiers, snowboarders, snowshoers, snowmobilers, and other backcountry winter enthusiasts. For beginners or those needing a refresher.
Requirements: Bring your own transportation (skis, splitboard with skins, snowshoes, etc.) and avalanche gear (beacon, shovel, probe). If you need to borrow equipment, please inform us in advance.
Course Dates/Times:
December 14th
The course will run for ~ 4 hours, starting in the mid morning. Exact time subject to conditions.
