Wasatch Powderkeg February 24 at Brighton Resort

Splitboards provide a great way to probe the backcountry, but there are a lot of tricks to putting everything together and staying alive in avalanche terrain.

Join us for a day of touring around Brighton to learn effective climbing,  trailbreaking, transitioning, and avalanche basics.  If you are new to splitting or want a refresher from the pros, this is a great way to get some beta on how to get the goods and stay out of avalanches.

Requirements & Logistics

We will provide a single chair ride to gain elevation quickly, but uphill travel is required and you must have a splitboard and skins. You will need a beacon, probe, and shovel.  You must have the fitness and riding ability to climb and descend in steep, ungroomed terrain all day.

This clinic will be held in the backcountry regardless of weather, so bring a pack with warm clothes, first aid and repair materials, and food and water to get you through the day.

Plan to arrive and check in by 8:45 am.   We'll meet up at 9:00 am and will return about 12:00 pm

Do you have your own personal avalanche safety gear? If not, check out the Backcountry.com "Fitting Room" to purchase your own safety gear. Every purchase from the link benefits the Utah Avalanche Center. Click the link here
