Skiing Porter Fork and Mt. Raymond yesterday. We had the "Raymond Rocks" avalanche at about 1:25 p.

Best we could tell it was the new snow from Tues. night. Only a few inches deep but the whole rock slab let go. After checking the weather stations it looks like the temp. to a slight spike up at about this same time.

I'd like to blame the wind but the same event occurred on the main Porter rock slabs as well and there was no wind what so ever to speak of over there.

Also at about 9000 feet found the every lurking ice layer about 1 foot down but not wide spread.

And lastly people best beware of the pile of snow on the "stone book" cabin. Folks have been poking it with a ski pole and I can tell you that if that piece of snow lets go it will kill someone.
