Forecast for the Logan Area Mountains

There's not enough snow in the Logan Area Backcountry for avalanche danger yet, even on the highest slopes. But, moist, fresh snow is starting to accumulate, and there's a couple inches of powder capping the moist ground after record warmth in October.

Weather and Snow

Snow is just starting to stick to the ground at higher elevations, so it's time to dust off and check the condition of your avalanche rescue equipment.

Shallow snow cover is currently more of a safety concern than avalanche potential in the backcountry, but stayed tuned and we'll keep you updated as conditions change.

Snow showers and welcome below freezing temperatures should continue in the mountains through the work week, with a stronger impulse and couple inches of accumulation possible at upper elevations on Thursday night. Looks like a high pressure system will build late Friday, promising pleasant weather for the weekend. Our next chance for more winter weather will come early next week.
