Weather and SnowMeager recent new snow is only gradually accumulating on upper elevation slopes, on a base consisting of rocks, down trees, and dirt due to exceptionally warm temperatures sustained for much of November. There's still nowhere near enough snow for riding yet, but the forecast is favorable, and you might start to find areas to wiggle through the weeds on smooth north facing terrain in the next few days.
Although the snow is too shallow and the riding is still not so good, it's a great time to refresh yourself and practice companion rescue techniques with your partners.
Although still quite unlikely, small avalanches may become a possibility on isolated north facing smooth slopes at the highest elevations with additional snowfall and wind in the next few days.
The next storm, beginning tomorrow, looks much colder a bit more promising for the Bear River Range, with 6" to 12" of accumulation forecast at 8500' by Thanksgiving morning. Expect increasing southwest wind on Wednesday, and stormy conditions Wednesday night, with northwest winds, temperatures in the twenties, and snow! Unsettled conditions should continue through the weekend, with the next wave of more significant storminess in the Logan Zone expected on Monday...
