Weakness was found just below and just above the mid October melt freeze crust.  Compression tests yielded moderate Q2 shears below the crust.  Two ECT propagation tests yielded moderate Q1 shears above the crust (see video).  This crust facet layering combo is more pronounced above around 10,000' on the more northerly aspects.  This combo along with the scattered rime crusts will need monitoring up to the next snow event as these are likely layers that could cause trouble.  (Click for more observations from this day)
