Headed up into Slide Canyon today to take a look at the snow in the start zone before the impending boomer of a storm tomorrow and the potential pattern change next week.  Highlights are the Jan.6th rime crust that was not reactive in this location, the post-Christmas NSF's (weakest snow found) which were barely reactive, the strong mid-pack, and the Oct/Nov facets at the ground which were compressed and moist.  Most concerned about the layer of post-xmas NSF's.  Not very reactive right now, but with a large quick load, expect that we could see failures on this layer throughout the Provo area.  Lot's of variability in the range right now.  All in all, the structure is somewhat weak, but the pack is fairly strong, and the energy is low.  Skiing was fairly terrible too.

Layer of buried NSF's from post-xmas at 35cm below the surface.  Easily identifiable in the pit wall.

Another sweet Provo exit.  We did this a couple of times because it was so much fun.
