On the way up to the West Ridge between Little Baldy and Logan Peak. Generally good skiing and surfy snow on the upper elevation, north facing trees. But there is still the persistent buried facets/depth hoar. From a pit/shovel test we did at 8,000 ft, NNW aspect, 36 degree slope (at the base of face from the trail up to the ridge that connects Logan Peak and Little Baldy)

The column failed on the buried facets as we finished isolating it with a moderately clean, but not energetic shear. I've been troubled by all the easy failures on the buried facets I've seen over the last two weeks during various compression tests (many very low angle) I've done while out; yet the slopes still seem and ski very stable
