Quick observation. I retrieved temperature sensors today from Albion Basin in Little Cottonwood and Silver Lake in Big Cottonwood. Aside from the obvious weak snow that exists, the biggest thing I noted was that the dirt layer has been exposed again from the winds. The snow that's getting removed has to be getting deposited somewhere. This will add to the already spotty slabs that are waiting for someone to molest them.
While the more recent snow on the surface has turned to small grained facets, the weakest is the larger grains from mid December (below) which sit about 8 to 12" down into the pack from the surface. Larger grains just under the rain crust are very weak in many locations as well.
